Draginol is one of the five Mithrilar, a group of unrelated godlike entities that had abilities that could shape reality itself. Draginol is responsible for the creation of the Titans, Men, and all Magic in the World of Elemental.
Biography
The story of Draginol's life can be at times tricky to understand because the timeline of the Elemental universe (the one shared with the Galactic Civilizations franchise) is cyclical, with Draginol both being born later in the timeline and traveling to the beginning. That is why, when describing his life as a human, the dates in Draginol's life are denoted by the use of the Common Era (CE) rather than analogues used by the main Elemental timeline like After Cataclysm (AC).
Life as a Human
Draginol, then called DL Bradley, was born in a prior timeline on Earth as a human sometime in the late 22nd century. Nothing is known of his early life. All we know is that he became a Colonel of the Terran Alliance military by 2220 CE and that he was related to the Terran politician Alan Bradley.
In 2225, during a conflict with the Dread Lords, Draginol was put in charge of the Terran Alliance's first fleet, tasked with protecting Earth from the Drengin who were looking to dominate the galaxy in the chaos created by the Dread Lords. To this end, Bradley's fleet discovered two Precursor artifacts: one that could imprison a planet, and one that had sealed the Dread Lords in a pocket universe. He would use the former to protect Earth, as its barrier was impenetrable from both sides, and the latter to protect his fleet from insurmountable Drengin forces.
Bradley would stay within this pocket universe for 16 years, training tirelessly to defeat the Drengin and all who would threaten humanity. When they returned from the pocket universe, they found that his colleague, Colonel Jenna Casey, had defeated the Dread Lord menace with the help of Tandis the Arnor. Unfortunately, the weapon they had used was destroyed by the Thalans, leaving the Drengin uncontested for a decade. Bradley's fleet, now armed with Precursor technology, promptly freed Earth, destroying all Drengin forces in their way.
In short order, DL Bradley, changed by his years of isolation, converted the Terran Alliance from an imprisoned people to the dominant faction in the galaxy.
Bradley's interaction with the Precursor artifact that had sealed him and his fleet all those years, The Bane, had changed him into something not entirely human. He was made immortal. Long after his time as a military man and politician, Bradley attempted to use The Bane save his universe from its end. This action sent him into a new dimension, where his humanity would fade and he would eventually adopt the name Draginol, now knowing his place in the Altarian Prophecy.
Time as a Mithrilar
When Draginol arrived in the beginning of the timeline, he was introduced to the Mithrilar, of which we now consider him one. The Mithrilar were godlike beings tasked with protecting the Telenanth, an unfathomably large and powerful crystalline entity that is responsible to the creation and shaping of life in the universe.
For a time, Draginol joined the Mithrilar in their task. Unfortunately for him, there was an important ability (or curse) that made him distinct from the other Mithrilar: he could perceive time. The other Mithrilar had no concept of the present, and could watch the Telenanth indefinitely. Draginol, his mind still a product of a mortal life, was driven mad by countless millennia of life without any form of input. Eventually, Draginol's impatience led him to using the Telenanth to his own ends, creating the Arnor.
God of the Arnor
On a planet that would also become known as Arnor, Draginol populated the world with life designed in his image. The first would be his finest creations, those who would become the Dred'nir, who could perceive time like he could and were immensely powerful in their own right. Each following Arnor he would create would be less powerful and sophisticated. Later Arnor, those that would be come known as the Elas'nir, could not even perceive the passage of time, just like the Mithrilar.
These differences in chronological perspective caused a rift between the two factions of Arnor, just as it had with Draginol and the other Mithrilar, and inevitably broke into war. The much more powerful Dred'nir had little issue dispensing of their Elas'nir enemies, going so far as creating a weapon that could absorb the essence of fallen Arnor. Ironically, this weapon would be captured by the Elas'nir to turn the tide of war. Eventually, Draginol discovered the existence of the weapon and seized it for himself.
Realizing its full potential, Draginol attempted to use this Dred'nir weapon to completely master the Telenanth, not content just eking out enough power to create his children. This failed and shattered the Telenanth, flinging its shards, along with Draginol, across the universe and sealing the Arnor in a pocket universe.
The Sleeping God of Altaria
Draginol, propelled at meteoric speeds, eventually crashed into a lifeless planet that would eventually be known as Altaria. A pulse of energy from the destroyed Telenanth then hit the planet, creating the spark of life.
Draginol, unconscious and buried deep in the planet, bled his essence into the world, involuntarily shaping life into forms that resembled those from Draginol's former life on Earth. These Terran-looking lifeforms would compete, coexist, and even hybridize with the native life of Elemental.
Draginol's mind also projected powerful beings that would later come to be known as the Elemental Lords, along with diffuse essence that the planet's inhabitants would experience as Magic.
Eventually, this diffuse essence would be congealed and crystallized into Shards, locking Draginol's power away from him and preventing him from awakening.
